This paper presents the Secondary Voltage Regulation system (SVR) for the IEEE 39 bus New-England test system, taking into account different control area partitioning methods reported on the literature. PID controllers are used for this purpose. Furthermore, a comparison of the controllers performance for each partitioning method is carried out using the total integral absolute error accumulated for all nodes with respect to a reference voltage. This comparison showed that the k-way graph method has in general a better performance, however, when changes in the system topology are presented, the learning algorithms offer a better voltage control response.
