The article examines the transformation of football clubs into social and sports entities in Córdoba during the interwar period. It analyzes their associative structures and material bases; the relation between sport competitiveness, economic growth and institutional expansion; and the development of other sports, social services and recreational and cultural activities. The increasing complexity and diversity of the associative framework of the clubs broaden their member´s social base of their members and favored their insertion into a logic of mass spectacle.
