This article presents a variation of a sliding mode control to supply current to the grid from a Trinary Hybrid Multilevel Inverter. In order to design the sliding mode control, the inverter is modeled as a nonlinear system, and then it is converted into a linear model with disturbance. The proposed sliding mode control does not ensure stability in all the region. However, the unknown stability region tends to zero. The paper validates the nonlinear model comparing it with the switching circuit. Then, the article shows two tests performed on the inverter with the proposed control: changing the amplitude and the angle of the current reference and generating a disturbance in the voltage sources of each H Bridges. Furthermore, a comparative analysis between a PI control and the proposed control validates that the proposed control law presents better tracking response, higher disturbance rejection and better response to parametric uncertain.
