The objective of this study was to make a psychometric analysis of children’s depression inventory- short (CDI-S) and to know the percentage of Colombian’s boys and girls with depressing symptoms. It is based on a non- probabilistic, intentional sample taken from public and private schools from different cities in Colombia; which is composed by 832 participants, 400 boys and 432 girls with ages between seven and thirteen years old. It was conducted a CDI-S instrumental study. Through a statistical analysis done with the use of the PSS (version number 20) it was found by the calculation of the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient that the result of the test was 0.67 in the first application and 0.77 in the second application; which means that the instrument has internal consistency. The results of the factorial analysis showed that the test measures two factors that explain – in the first application the 37.52% and in the second application the 44.14% of the variance. The analysis with the Rasch model indicated that the items are adjusted to the model.
