Background: Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare inherited disease which affects ciliary structure and function. There are not previous PCD reports from Colombia in the literature. Methods: Our pulmonary clinic is a reference centre for a population of 400.000 children <15 yr of age. Ciliary structure is evaluated with electronic microscopy (EM) when PCD is suspected based in clinical data. Results: From Jan 2014 to Jan 2017, we found 9 PCD cases. See tables. Conclusion: Our findings indicate a PCD prevalence -at least- of 1:44.000 children under 15 years of age without situs inversus. PCD prevalence should be higher because the disease awareness is low and because there is only one center available for EM study in Colombia, a country with 50 million inhabitants.
