This article aims to articulate theoretical and legal guidelines about the elderly and disability practices in Colombia. Key concepts, as well as the evolution of the legal framework following a comprehensive review of different laws on the subject under study, are presented in order to promote a better care for the elderly with disabilities in Colombia. Taking into account data from the World Health Organization, which indicates that more than 1 billion people have some form of disability, ie 15% of the world’s population has some sort of functional difficulties, it seems significant to deepen the practice of a legal framework in Colombia that promotes common legal actions to advocate on the human rights of this sector of the population deserving of a better quality of life.
