This proposal, framed within the dialogue between Translation Studies and Psychoanalysis, is carried out in two parts. The first part intends to think translation from psychoanalysis and, to this purpose, epistemological coordinates are established. An exposition is also made on the value of the notion of experience by linking Jacques Lacan and Antoine Berman. This is a step forward towards answering the question on the experience of language which links both fields. The second part focuses on the job of translating psychoanalytical texts, especially on the vicissitudes of the translation of Jacques Lacan’s Écrits in Latin America. A series of topics, which make up the research project here outlined, are also laid out throughout the paper.
