In order to identify and describe the sexuality of an ostomized patient it was necessary to review the research about the topic. The study was developed in a sample of 30 men and women in the San Jose Hospital an the Colombian Association of ostomized patients. The psycho social profile was established for this patients as well as their knowledge and experience on the management of their sexuality as it was lived after the pathology or trauma, and its repercussions on their lives and their partners relationships. The main objective of the study was to develop an educational manual of the sexuality of the patient with ostomies. The design was quantitative and qualitative. A pretest was designed, and an structural conference based on a didactic unit with the educational manual as an extra resource. Most of the patients expressed they did not managed adequately their sexuality because of taboos. The authors concluded that education is of utmost importance for this patients and that this education has to be addressed by the health professionals and mainly by nurses.
