The following paper gives a presentation of the two main contributions of the SENA during its 60 years of history. Its passage through instructional and popular education methodologies, as well as the introduction of the notion of competences, have been some historical elements that stand out in their role as a vocational training institution. Likewise, it presents its role in the process of social promotion in Colombia at a time of economic crisis and post-conflict.
