In the region, however, a series of publications emerged during the first half of the nineteenth-century, which were constructed at some distance from the enlightened program. The objective of the article is to outline a characterization of this type of newspaper. In order to achieve this goal, I address the following titles published in Buenos Aires: the Despertador Teofilantrópico Misticopolítico, El Torito de los Muchachos and La Bruja o la Ave Nocturna.
