The advancement of information and communication technologies is conducive to networking, cooperative and inclusive. The global reach of the Communication has not succeeded in increasing the research, teaching and dissemination of a subject as fundamental as the Historiography of Communication. This article analyzes the creation of the International Network of Historiographers of Communication (INHC), which emerged last 28 of October of 2016, in the VI Ibero-American Communication Meeting celebrated in Santo Domingo thanks to the support of the University of Cienfuegos (Cuba), APEC University (Dominican Republic) and the Latin American Federation of Faculties of Social Communication (FELAFACS). This work aims to identify the no lucrative predecessor initiatives developed in the field of Communication, to know the professional context in which the entity emerges, as well as its initial purposes, differential characteristics and profile of its first associates. Likewise, the future opportunities and the necessary fundamentals for its good functioning as an academic research organization are identified.
