Introduction: The quantity of variables obtained on a force platform used to measure the dyna-mic or static balance makes the analysis of the results complex. The purpose of this study is todevelop a statistical index applied to the evaluation of the balance on force platforms to beapplied in older women over 60-years.Materials and methods: A total of 61 active and sedentary women (64.12 ± 4.25 years) wereevaluated as regards their static balance capacity with eyes opened and closed on a forceplatform using the variables derived of centre of pressure (COP).Results: A total of18 variables of balance were summarised in order to construct an indexsummary that integrates the response of the open and closed eyes static balance as follows:I = 0.29C3+ 0.22C5+ 0.26C6+ 0.24C9Conclusions: Of the18 variables analysed, only the radius (C3), the minimal radius (C5), thetransverse range (C6), and the speed (C9) of the COP was useful in the integrated measurementof the capacity of static balance (opened and closed eyes), which supports the construction ofa predictive index.
