This article deals with the study of teachers’ beliefs as a determining factor in the teaching/learning activities; it exposes the conceptual framework for their evaluation and presents a model for the assessment of beliefs supported on information visualisation. A description of the model is provided, along with the designed instruments that enable the assessment of the teachers’ beliefs about knowledge/knowing in design, as well as the understanding of those beliefs and the establishment of behavior relationships, starting from the tests carried out with a group of teachers from different Colombian cities where vocational training programs in the field of design take place.
