Resumo: Este artigo busca enfocar o posicionamento do episcopado daAmérica Latina e do Caribe com respeito ao tema do diálogo inter-religioso,tendo por base os textos das Conferências de Medellín, Puebla e SantoDomingo, bem como o Documento de Participação publicado em vista da VConferência Geral a ser realizada em 2007 na cidade de Aparecida do Norte(Brasil). A hipótese avançada no artigo indica que o tema do diálogo interreligiosonão ganhou ainda sua devida importância na reflexão do episcopadodo continente. O que se verifica é uma diminuição crescente de interesse pelaquestão e uma afirmação cada vez mais decisiva em favor da retomada daidentidade católica e da ênfase no anúncio evangelizador explícito.Abstract: The present article attempts at highlighting the position of the bishopsof Latin America and the Caribbean concerning the subject of inter-religiousdialogue on the basis of the texts from the Conferences in Medellin, Puebla,and Santo Domingo, as well as from the Document of Participation which waspublished in preparation of the V General Conference to be held in 2007 inAparecida do Norte (Brazil). The hypothesis advanced in the article deals withthe theme of the inter-religious dialogue which did not receive as yet its welldeserved importance in the reflections among the bishops of the Continent.What should to be noted is a decreasing lack of interest in this issue and amore decisive assertion of Catholic identity and emphasis on the explicitproclamation of the Gospel.
