Research report State of the Art on Practical Work in the Teaching of Biology (2004Biology ( -2008)): A Contribution to the Teacher Training, whose objective was to characterize the Practical Applications in Teaching Biology from 216 publications found in 16 journals made during the period (2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008) and analyze the contributions to teacher education derived from this.The methodology that guided the characterization corresponds to a qualitative approach from interpretative-hermeneutic epistemological point, the documentary research method, and the state of the art form.To systematize the information was used SAR instrument, whose design was based on criteria that have been received for the characterization of the Teaching of Science as a field of knowledge and a system of categories for the analysis of practical work in Biology teaching: Problem, team composition, section of the journal, Authors, Subjects Biology, type of work, population under study, Methodology, Nature of TP (TP type, image Practice, Relationship TP class TP), Aims, Methodology of TP, Evaluation, Relationship epistemological aspects and elements related to teacher training.For purposes of this paper, we show only the results related to the image of Practice.It finds a majority tendency to consider alternative practices to specific aspects of teaching and learning, which involves recognizing them as an essential component of pedagogical content knowledge as Biological highlight the different potentialities of this strategy to cover various aspects of teaching-learning.
