Abstract:

This interview with Kuahtli Vasquez, peyote medicine man of Mexica descent, deals, initially, with the learning experiences of the traditional medicine man and their relation to the political context of indigenous people in northern Mexico; later on, with another type of medicine man, thus time from Putumayo, and the search for the yage or ayahuasca medicine. What does the encounter between different forms of healing that express epistemic knowledge without mediation (as the shamanic practices of the Jaguar and the Deer or the prophecies of the encounter between the Condor and the Eagle) entail? Our purpose is to glimpse, in the words of the traditional Amerindian medicine man, what an ancestral way of thinking can bring to modern times.
