This bibliometric analysis is part of the doctoral thesis entitled “The Design System in the Mediterranean Arch Euroregion: Priorities for the Characterization of a Strategic Model»2. Its purpose is to set up a tool with which to better understand the literature pertaining to the implementation of design policies in regions or countries. This bibliometric analysis not only is useful for policy makers, but also for researchers in different areas of knowledge in design. This study began with a search for key terms related to design policies in bibliographic databases (BDB) and search engines, followed by the use of tools and comparative parameters, as well as with the assessment of impact in the selected publications. It ended with the analysis of the information by means of the The Vantage Point software. Design policies drive the development of resources in this field in a region. This can have a direct influence on the revitalization of the economy. Nevertheless, as a field of study, it lacks of enough material published in BDB to be able to make a relevant bibliometric analysis, since great part of the material generated by specialized authors is more informative rather than scientific (50% of the documents identified in this study). Furthermore, design publications lack of a specific indexing category, thus there are no homogeneous comparative parameters.
