The present study focused on a content analysis study of the press in Bucaramanga in 2005 and raised to achieve the following objectives: describing structure, extension and presentation of the environmental information of the media from this city, examining and distinguishing the type or types of language that the information was made and verifying the monitoring and displaying that these press media made during the 2005. The method used in this investigation was the Content Analyzing, from the one were studied three periods in the city: “Vanguardia Liberal”, “El Frente” and “15”. Total were found and checked 1105 environmental articles from the “Vanguardia Liberal”, 137 from “El Frente” and 48 from “15”. To making the content analyzing was designed an array where was registered each one of the supercategory, category and subcategory defined for the investigation. The obtain results show that the news papers of the city made registration of the environmental information (73,7%); that the media make display and monitoring of environmental issues. But, the 40,6% of this information has an extension between 5 and 15 centimeters. Predominates the news genre with a 54% and brief or capsule in a 26,8%. The analyzed news papers use mostly one unique source of advice (official or non official) and a 44.9% of the total checked information does not registered an advising source. The environmental subjects of most diffusion were: Conservation Activities, Preservation and Investigation, Water, Natural Disasters or the ones by the human hand. The exercise invites to continue in the process of validation of the found dat and promoting the triad society-media-nature.
