A study of the effectiveness of popular actions in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, circumscribed to the period 2005-2009, concerning the protection of the environment was carried out in order to inquire how beneficial it has turned out to be. For the development of the research work with the team of collaborators, we started by inquiring about the origin of these actions since they date back to the very beginning of humanity, and continued with a comparison of this type of actions with the so-called class or group, which are also aimed at the protection of the same interests. We did an analysis of the findings in 55 court judgments where specific variables were taken; and finally we ended our work by making a spot check to actually establish the way they comply with court judgments on environmental protection and also by shaping some conclusions and recommendations.
