Objective: to describe the process and the results of the first phase of construction project of a research agenda regarding disability for Colombia. Methodology: a first approach towards a research agenda regarding disability was elaborated through a participative process conducted in six phases: 1) identifying and summoning regional and national actors; 2) preparing an initial proposal for large areas and priority topics on the agenda; 3) regional tables to identify research needs and capacities, and to discuss the initial proposal; 4) re-categorization based on regional contributions; 5) a National table for the concertation of priority areas and cross-sectional research categories; 6) socialization. Results: the study configures and agenda proposal oriented by four cross-sectional categories and five thematic areas. There was progress approaching subtopics, which still require more development. This proposal is constituted on a base that must be complemented and validated in a later stage of the project. Conclusions: a research agenda regarding disability, which gathers the needs and capacities of various actors involved in generating and appropriating knowledge in this field. This agenda focuses on a better use and the development of capacities and resources allocated for research, and transdisciplinary studies, which contribute to making political decisions and transforming the social realities of a collective of people with disabilities and their families in the country and in their territories.
