Tech mining is defined as the use of text mining tools regarding information from science and technology in order to understand processes of technological innovation and, thus, provide information for decision-making. It is used in this specific case to identify the most relevant aspects associated to the methods and standards available for project management in engineering, with both comercial and academic purposes. The results showed eight areas of interest, which were interrelated and are shown on a key work correlation map. Analysis did not offer significant evidence regarding the best practice; in other words, project managers must be able to integrate the knowledge obtained academically, the new technological developments, and the experience obtained in each of the financial sectors where they work in order to establish the appropriate methods and standards to ensure the optimal performance of the project. Most companies that have documented their experiences in this area report the need to generate their own tools to meet their specific needs and experiences.
