Dairy Farming is extremely important due to factors such as: workforce employed, development of new dairy added value products and by-products, food security among many others.Dairy quality laboratories are indispensable stakeholders in the generation of information for monitoring and control of activities of the dairy farming process (manual or mechanical milking) according to the Colombian Legal Framework (Decreto 616 /2006), these facilities must be accredited and certified under NTC / ISO17025Standard for quality analysis under the raw milk payment to the farmers. This project comes as an additional outcome of the research conducted on risk factors associated with milking procedures over hygienic quality of the milk evaluated in terms of colony forming units (CFU) as well as its sanitary quality measured by Somatic Cell Count (SCC) sampled on bulk tanks of farms located in the Magdalena Medio and North Coast in Colombia. Accredited laboratories have different equipment’s and protocols and for the farmers and the dairy agroindustry essential to know to what extend such differences influences the results of microbiological quality tests. For such we used a sampling protocol on bulk tanks and its sampling on 23 buffalo’s milk farms.Double samples of milk were sampled from the bulk tanks the day that checklists were implemented, testing bacteria by means of Bactoscan® and finding on average 182.6 ± 295.4 x 103 CFU/ml and SCCby means of FossomaticTMFC with an average of 137.1 ± 158.9 x 103 cs/ml. A linear trend for UFC was found with r = 0.851 (p = 0.006) as well as for SCCwith r = 0.84 (p = 0.0003). These results entirely validate the decision to analyze milk samples on any of the two laboratories tested in terms of microbiological and chemical quality for raw buffalo’s milk.
