The aim of this paper is to analyze the main aspects that characterized literary text publishers in Colombia at the end of the 19th century. This analysis is divided in three parts. First, it is important to see a Publisher-Bookseller as an occupation with a historical cultural background which at the end of the century was considered a figure whose main intention was to renew and update national discourses. Second, it is necessary to conduct a formal analysis of the publishing elements which identified the publishing collection devised by Jorge Roa in 1893, named The People’s Library (Biblioteca Popular).
