Abstract:

This article shows an overview of the women’s political periodical press in Chile between 1900 and 1929. It considers a cadaster, a definition and a typology. Feminine newspapers and magazines were at the same time means of expression and a space where different groups constructed their identities. We examine factors that help to understand the action of women in the press, and also different types of newspapers, that all of them were the expression of a new social phenomenon: women using the press to speak up.
