This article aims to estimate the rate of human agency for the city of San Jose de Cucuta (Colombia) in 2013, in order to establish that an analysis of this relationship in terms of demographic and socio-economic factors of the study population. The estimation and analysis are based on the focus of human capabilities (ECH), which was developed by Amartya Sen. The results suggest the existence of significant influence between socioeconomic conditions on the rate of human agency, emphasizing that the agency is a concept of intrinsic value with empirical connections with the freedoms and capabilities.
