This paper aims to provide a balance on the historiographical approach known as Global History that has gained notoriety in Latin America for some years. A review of a state of matter comprising some of its representative texts allows us to undertake a preliminary balance of a historiographic current that continues mutating today. It begins by outlining the historical and intellectual context in which this approach arises to later proceed to characterize its most distinctive features and finally offers a critique from Latin America towards the supposed non-Eurocentric imprint embraced by this form of history.
