Modified perturb and observe MPPT algorithm based on a narrow set of initial conditions

Abstract:

The perturb and observe (P&O) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is a simple and efficient tracking technique. This method is the most commonly used. However, the P&O tracking method depends on of the search region. This region exists between the solar panel parameters. This search of the maximum power value is a critical factor in many systems that depends on of the energy of the system. Modified P&O technique is proposed to avoid the waste of energy by incorporating new boundaries to the search region to avoid a large convergence time. A single-ended primary inductance converter is considered to validate the proposed bounded P&O MPPT. MATLAB/Simulink is used for simulation studies. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm accurately tracks the maximum power.
