The purpose of this article is to describe the perception that pregnant women have about the care given by the nursing professionals through the Preparation course for motherhood and fatherhood applied in an institution of health in Bogota city. In regards to the methodology, it is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory design, made by means of the Laurence Bardin’s content analysis technique through controlled hermeneutics in the semi-structured interviews made to 14 pregnant women who attend the Motherhood and Fatherhood preparation course. In the main topic, The immersed, present and latent nursing care in the preparation course arises from the analysis of the following categories: Perception of care for the pregnant women; Nurse care perceived for the pregnant women; Nurse care perceived in the course; and Relevance perception of the course for the pregnant women. In accordance to these categories, we considered three fundamental aspects: Companion, Recognition and Learning about caring. It was found that the pregnant women, who attend the Preparation course of Motherhood and Fatherhood, perceive the care given by the nurse and recognize it as a fundamental aspect of the course itself. The pregnant women request the intervention of the nurse, because in them they find a humanistic formation that enables them to understand and take actions promoting their health care and the unborn child´s. Therefore, the five essential caring ontological categories described by Morse can be observed. These categories are the caring as a human characteristic, a moral imperative, an affliction, a nursing therapeutically action and an interpersonal or interactive personal relationship.
