This study was conducted in order to analyze the behavior of the hydrographic basin of the Coello river, under conditions of unique occupation of land, in order to obtain information and manage it, based on the results obtained in a study of sediment production in this hydrographic basin, in the period 1988 -2007 (baseline). Two land cover areas were created, taking into account the 22 areas of each subclass of use and current occupation, which were modified by forming 10 units of land use for this study and distributed by 16 sub-basins, the 11 units that are not involved, contribute to the sum of areas of the two occupations of land. To land area one (1) 91.76 % was assigned for natural pastures, and for area two (2), the 91.76 % was assigned for forest area. This information was taken to the SWAT hydrological simulation model, where data were simulated for the period 1988 -2007. The results show that, although the two scenarios have values below the baseline, the area 2(Is 2) has a greater percentage forest cover is 63 % is more efficient than the (area 1), in terms of soil retention. The 16 sub-basins were modeled, determining susceptibility to sedimentation processes, where forests had the highest sediment regulation, with the information obtained in this study a second phase of simulation and modeling research is recommended in a future time period of 20 years.
