The time is ripe to revisit capacity. Its role on international aid in the past decade nurtured the term, sharpening its means. It is still a common reference of public affairs in developing contexts, often imprecisely addressed. This paper updates the discussion by answering the question: what has been said about capacity? The review focuses on conceptual approaches relating directly to capacity. It presents a review of the literature, while taking on to show detail on the various streams nurturing the term. The review also discusses practical aspects of the term. Such as measuring capacity and its relation to other concepts: performance, capabilities and capacity development.
