This article describe the design of a collection instrument of information and the results of the pilot test of it is focused on the characterization in innovation and design in manufacturing SMEs Bogota, in the sectors identified by the program Colombian productive transformation (PTP). The instrument seeks to detect a correlation between companies with innovative results and those with installed design processes; I understand a possible “hidden” link between design and innovation, which is not being measured by indicators and current definitions.
