From fresh leaves of plants Cavendishia compacta and Cavendishia guatapeensis were obtained essential oils by steam with water, its determination was performed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS), compare index retention, and mass spectral data reported in the literature. Essential oils of Cavendishia compacta and Cavendishia guatapeensis were obtained in a yield of 0.27% and 0.30% respectively, in which 22 components were identified in each; which constitute about 77% and 73% respectively of the total relative composition of the oils, the sesquiterpene caryophyllene being the highest percentage in each of them.
