The main objective of this work was the design and implementation of the Didactic Unit that was called "Econocimiento 5" in the District Educational Institution Manuel Elkin Patarroyo in the Santa Fe locality, with students of the fifth grade of elementary school, aged 9-11 years, the implementation of the didactic unit was carried out during six sessions of 1 hour and 50 minutes under the approach of Meaningful Learning, integrating previous knowledge and skills to achieve, evaluating the teaching and learning process through the comparison of initial and final concept maps.The Didactic Unit consists of 6 activities, each one with its respective objectives and competencies to be developed to achieve a conception and complete understanding of the concept ecosystem.Prior to its design, three instruments were developed for the characterization of the institutional educational project of the school, the Biology teacher and students, with the objective of getting a contextualization for the planning of activities according to the school reality evidenced here.This Didactic unit was carried out in the "Experimental Classroom" course, with the justification to design, implement and reflect upon the didactic proposals about the Biology teaching and the diverse problems that arise in teacher´s being and task, likewise make the didactics units strategies that lead to a reflective and critical labor improving in this way teachers´ pedagogical practices.
