In this paper, the research group Knowledge Science Teacher Professional presents the results of the first phase of the investigation "State of the art of the characteristics of the Field of Knowledge of the Teaching of Biology", which systematized the content of 161 Publications on Teaching of Biology (EB), made during the years 2007 and 2008 in 17 journals.Specifically, the results refer to the analysis of the composition of the teams of researchers who conducted the literature review. The methodology that guided the work corresponds to a hermeneutic interpretive qualitative approach, the documentary analysis, and the state of the art form, using as an educational tool, the executive summary (RAE).During the investigation the question arose: Is there a community of scholars specializing in the Teaching of Biology? With regard to the affiliation of the authors, we found that most of them are university teachers, highlighting the low participation levels of teachers in primary and secondary education. In this regard, we believe that there should be a community of academics and teachers in primary and secondary. This, taking into account what could correspond in order to issue the EB as a field of knowledge is very favorable for a community that you want to start structured around the teaching of biology. But our attention that given the number of articles reviewed did not arise many authors in relation to repetitive problems and biological issues.
