ResumenEl objetivo del escrito consiste en mostrar, por un lado, que la fuerte crítica a la poesía realizada por Platón no es ni absoluta ni exclusiva al Libro X de República y, por otra parte, que el ataque a la poesía se sustenta en una preocupación de carácter ético: la educación y su ejercicio. Para demostrar lo anterior, el texto se divide en dos partes. En la primera se muestra el lugar de privilegio concedido a la educación en la reflexión platónica. En la segunda se observa el tratamiento dado a la poesía y a los poetas de cara a la educación. Palabras clave: Platón, preocupación ética, educación, poesía y poetas. AbstractThe aim of this paper is to show that Plato’s strong criticism to poetry is neither absolute nor exclusive to the Republic: Book X. As well as to point out that the disparagement to poetry is the product of an ethical concern about education and its exercise. In that order of ideas, this paper is divided into two parts: the first one illustrates the privileged place granted to education in Plato’s reflections; the second one observes the treatment that is given to poetry and poets in the educational field.
