There is currently a growing concern about unhealthy lifestyles (LS) and the consequences that they could bring to the health of the university community. Nevertheless, LS represent every day actions that reflect people’s attitudes and values that are directly related to their quality of life; according to the American College of Sports Medicine - ACSM (2013), physical inactivity results in the appearance of non-transmissible chronic diseases (NTCD) such as: Arterial Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus II and Obesity. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to determine the Lifestyle profile of the Students of Elective Course of Physical Activity and Sports (SECPAS) of the Pontificia Javeriana University (PJU) Bogota, D.C. Colombia. METHODS: The standardized self-administered form “Pentagon of Well-being” (PWB), proposed by Nahas (2001), was applied in the first half of 2014 in 2740 students with ages ranging from 16 to 25 years. The PWB is used as instrument of analysis of LS in population groups, and includes 15 questions divided into 5 analysis criteria: 1) Nutritional Factors (NF); 2) Physical Activity (PA); 3) Preventive Conduct (PC); 4) Social Relationships (SR); 5) Stress Control (SC). RESULTS: The NF present that 63% of the SECPAS do not include consumption of fruits and vegetables in they daily diet, and also, 53% consumes food rich in fat. In PA, 47% does not do at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day in a week. The PC shows that 74% does not know his clinical history and condition, such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels. In SR, 36% does not participate activity in physical activity programs of their community and in SC, 40% does not spend time in the day to relax. CONCLUSION: The SECPAS show a tendency to unhealthy LS that could contribute to the appearance of NTCDs. In order to modify these LS at the PJU, it is necessary to restructure the promotion and prevention programs, developing components for the construction of values oriented to the practice of sports, in which the contents related to feeding habits, self-care and stress control are strengthened.
