Abstract:
An overview of contemporary art’s cosmopolitics, through a self-study case: the Memory Code© creative project. This paper sets the debate between two analytical postures concerning the conceptualization of the body which are still present in the reflections on 21st century art. We present herein 1) the viewpoint that takes for granted the iconological models of corporeality inherited from the Renaissance and 2) the technological perspective of the body that considers the Cyborgas an idea-metaphor. This epistemological frame proves necessary in order to analyze the cosmopolitics and practices of contemporary art, which involve a “symbiotic” relationship between the Human and the Non-Human(plants, animals, machines). Thus, the path is illustrated through the self-study contained in an art project called Memory Code©, which explores the relationship between human and horse, and more specifically, the Woman-Horserapport, as a creative project developed in the realm of cosmopolitics of contemporary art.
