Objective:The purpose of this study was to establish the frequency of Tinea Pedis and associated factors, in rubbish picker workers in Cartagena de Indias city. A sample of 134 individuals was studied, 66 of them, (49,25%), showed injuries suggesting foot dermatophytosis; 66 cases showed fungal infection; however, only 56 samples, (41,8%), were positive in a direct examination in which the hyphae were observed on 40 samples, (71,43%). Culture results demonstrated Tinea Pedis in 62 cases, (93,94%), Trichophyton rubrum was seen in 28 cases, (45,16%). The statistical analysis showed individuals with pedal hyperhidrosis, (OR=4,46; IC95%=2,41-8,25), are prone to develop Tinea Pedis.
