In Latin America, several corruption and public money embezzlementscandals have damaged the confidence citizens have in democraticinstitutions from all the countries of the region. Existing impunity incases of corruption and the lack of accountability leaves democracyand legitimacy of institutions in a difficult position. Present article isintended to analyze the importance of accountability strengtheningin Latin America as a way of improving quality of democracy inthe region and then analyzing the specific case of Argentina, asan attempt to identify the loopholes within the legal system thatresult in important corruption risks and to evaluate the way toimprove this situation.
