This paper presents the results of an historical research that established the dynamics of development of technical and technology education in the State of Santander, through the study of educational centers, pioneers in the region, like the Instituto Técnico Superior Dámaso Zapata and the Unidades Tecnológicas de Santander.The process of consolidation of technical and technological education was understood from the national government policies and strategy of progress in Latin America.
