In order to reflect on the possibilities of going towards the creation of research approaches in social work, documentary research was conducted from a critical review of relevant literature to social work and social science research.These materials treated by underlining and summarizing techniques resulted in three aspects: social work as interactive and reflective practice, emergence of a new social science research rationality and feasibility of creating a research approach in social work.These results, subject to discussion with students and social work professionals in training processes guided by the author, have supported research at undergraduate and postgraduate Venezuelan context.To reach definitive conclusions contrast this proposal requires new thinking in other scenarios, especially those mined by decolonizators and emancipators discourses coincide critical approaches, as suggested in the present investigation
