This article presents the state of the art of the application of turboexpanders for power generation, showing a summary of the technique, written references, facilities around the world and manufacturers. Turboexpanders are a great opportunity for distributed power generation and energy optimization in the following years inside the called "golden age" of the natural gas that is expected with a massive worldwide usage of this fuel.
