Summary The work on Electronic Data Processing‐Information Retrieval (EDP‐IR) in the Colombian National Herbarium (COL) is described. The importance and relevance of automation and the practical difficulties encountered are discussed. A short review of the steps involved in up‐dating and correcting the data bank is also included.
