A new triterpenoid, (17α, 20R) -dammara-12, 24-dien-3β-ol, was isolated (as the acetate) from the fruits of Clusia guaviarensis and was identified by spectroscopic and chemical methods. This is the first example of a naturally occurring triterpenoid with a (17α, 20R) -dammarane skeleton.
