This paper analyzes the legislation in Latin America in relation with distributed generation. The policies of different countries in Latin America encourage the use of energy generation based on clean technologies, which are less dependent on coal derivatives. This has led to a growth in the use of renewable energy such as solar and wind power. Based on the results of this study the case of Colombia, where these generation schemes begin to be projected in a moderate way, is analyzed. Finally, the paper explores the real possibilities of implementation in that country.
