Induction furnaces offer a great advantage in metallurgical processes and heat treatments of several metals such as heat generation in a required place and caloric transfers without physical contact and lower pollution. This paper shows the design of an induction coil to melt 10 kg of aluminum or iron solid pieces, its validation through the computer simulation using finite elements software considering the electric and magnetic coupling to achieve the induction heating, in this case the resonance frequency was of 8 kHz. Also it is presented the construction methodology considering the refrigeration system with a water circuit and the coil fixation using a concrax covering. Finally it presents some satisfactory test which were melted 10 kg aluminum in a five minutes period and a test for 10 kg of iron in a period of thirty minutes. In both cases the melting time was similar to the simulation.
