This paper considers about data scientist as a worldwide profession, from a review of the term's history followed by a review and analysis of progress in Colombia. Additionally, the text includes some recommendations to be considered in this region, looking for that scientific community can go hand in hand with the progress and updates in the profiles that have been made globally.
