Este articulo tiene como objetivos: describir el nivel de discriminacion percibida en la familia en mujeres que viven con VIH y estudiar su relacion con depresion e ira. La escala de Discriminacion Temida y Percibida, Inventario de Depresion de Beck e Inventario de Rasgo-Estado-Expresion de Ira fueron aplicados a una muestra incidental de 200 mujeres que viven con VIH. Se reporto percibir discriminacion en la familia con muy baja frecuencia y significativamente menor que en otros entornos. Un modelo en el que la discriminacion percibida en la familia tuvo un efecto directo y pequeno sobre sintomas cognitivo-afectivos de depresion y control interno de la ira, mostro buen ajuste. Se concluye que intervenir sobre la discriminacion familiar, en caso de existir, tendria efecto protector para prevenir depresion. Abstract Research results on perceived family discrimination, depression and anger against women infected with HIV/AIDS by family members is provided through on this paper. For this study 200 women infected with the virus were sampled; the Feared and Perceived Discrimination Scale and Beck’s Depression and the State and Trait Anger Expression Inventories were applied. Lower levels of discrimination among women infected by family members were more prevalent than in any other situation leading to contraction of the virus. In this model, family discrimination showed control of anger and a small direct effect on cognitive-affective symptoms of depression. It was concluded that early intervention in family discrimination prevented depression.
