The Latin-American aerospace development,with the exception of Brazil, Argentina and Chile is limitedto aircraft operation and management, leaving design, andhence its education on a second level. In the mid ninetiesColombia realized the necessity of improving the aerospaceindustry by creating a program of aeronautical engineering.This lead to the question of what should be the professionalprofile for the new graduate, once which must fulfill thelocal requirements, mainly maintenance management andaircraft operation, but without leaving aside internationalstandards from reference countries like USA and theRussian Federation where the main emphasis is design andinnovation of aerospace products. This study shows theparticularities of aerospace engineering education in Latin-American developing countries, bearing in mind that themain endeavors are, to develop the local industry andprepare students to obtain a position in the internationalmarket.Index Terms ⎯ Aerospace Engineering, Educacion,Ingenieria Aeroespacial.
