Paragraph 11 of article 104 of the Colombian criminal code introduced as causal of aggravation of the homicide that action that is committed against a woman because of her gender status, but that it fails to be sufficient because of the ignorance which is taken by the criminal jurisdictional apparatus for its proper application, because there is no clarity about the motivations that drove the perpetrator to commit the homicide (femicide).
